Lift & Horizon, editorial desk

Lift and Horizon is an independent editorial publication. We are not a gliding club, we do not book flights, and we do not provide operational flying instruction. Our subject is British gliding culture, the experience of a first club visit, and how to understand the sky from the ground using public information and careful observation.

We serve curious newcomers, lapsed members, and anyone who wants to ask better questions before joining a club. Our three rubriques are Club Culture, First Visit, and Sky Reading. Each article is built around a specific reader question and a distinct scope, so you can compare club life, plan a visit, or practise reading thermals, ridge lift, and wave without flying.

Our editorial method is simple. We avoid invented experience, measured keyword claims, and superlatives. We link readers to current British Gliding Association information for rules and to individual clubs for local restrictions. We treat all synthetic images as illustrative, not documentary. We do not publish prices, event schedules, or access rights unless a club has verified them for us.

If you have a correction, please see the contact page. We aim to be precise, approachable, and concrete. We are here to help you understand the culture and the sky, not to replace a briefing from a qualified instructor.
